Jubilee and Northern Line
Thales Rail Signalling Ltd. has completed a major upgrade to the signaling and communication systems across the Jubilee and Northern Lines on the London Underground. This included 2 control rooms housing core control equipment and then equipment across the whole network. Jackman Enterprises provided project management services to support signaling commissioning and communication systems design and implementation.
Jackman Enterprises worked on a number of aspects of this major upgrade to the London Underground. The two main parts of the assignment were Jubilee Line signalling and Communications systems for both Northern Line and Jubilee Line. Signalling is fundamental to the safety and performance of the tube. London Underground is rolling out a network wide upgrade programme to renew assets that are over 40 years old. Thales Rail Signalling Solutions has very successfully applied its SelTrac® CBTC urban rail system to the Jubillee and Northern Lines. Jackman Enterprises was part of the project management team carrying out weekend closures and signaling commissioning management. Once the new system was commissioned at the Neasden Service Control Centre for the Jubilee Line attention was turned to the communications systems. Comms is controlled from one of the dual redundant controls at either Neasden of Highgate. New telephony systems were installed along with a CCTV control system and PAVA head end.
